Lutron understands that your privacy is important, and that you care about how we use your personal information. This Privacy Notice explains how Lutron uses your personal information, and the rights you have with its use. This privacy policy applies to Lutron websites as well as to the personal information we collect in the course of Lutron business operations.

For what purpose do we collect the above information? 

We use your information to improve the Lutron product experience. 

  1. The personal data you provided to create your myLutron login:

    To access certain functionality, you first need to register at myLutron for a login, and in many cases, provide a valid Lutron account number for your employer.

    Lutron may use this data for the following purposes:

    1. To enable you to log into various applications and websites

    2. To contact you via email for security related communications. Examples include emails confirming your account initiation, password changes, status changes due to inactivity, and similar changes so you can monitor any unauthorized access to your account. Due to their nature, you cannot opt out of receiving these emails.

    3. To send you the transactional information you have requested and important service updates, such as order confirmation emails, account password reset requests, technical support information, etc.

    4. To send you important updates about these applications and websites, such as security updates, bug fixes, and enhancements designed to make it easier for you and your company to do business with Lutron. Due to their nature, you cannot opt out of receiving these without deleting your myLutron login.

    5. To send you important notices about your company’s account with Lutron, such as credit issues, invoices, deadlines for account programs, etc. Due to their nature, you cannot opt out of receiving these notices without deleting your myLutron login.

    6. We use this data to assess system up‐time performance, to monitor for security threats and data quality, and to enable us to make informed business decisions.

    7. To email you marketing communications, such as information about Lutron and third-party products or to ask you to provide feedback about your experience. You may unsubscribe from these marketing emails at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in the email.

    The following is required to be provided to European Union (“EU”) users: The legal basis for use of your personal data is to perform our obligations in accordance with any contract we may have with you, to provide you with the functionality you requested, or to deliver marketing information as consented to by you.

  2. Information you provide on behalf of your company:

    Using this application or website, you may provide support files and other information on the projects or orders your company is working on with Lutron.

    Lutron uses this information to:

    1. Perform critical operations in the application or website, such as creating a Bill of Materials and taking and shipping orders.

    2. Assess system up‐time performance, monitor for security threats, and make informed business decisions.

    3. Forecast sales and manufacturing demands, manufacture or acquire products, ship orders, invoice, and enhance our operations.

    In addition to sharing this data with Lutron’s third-party sales representatives, we may also share it with employees of the company associated with the Lutron customer account number linked to your myLutron account. The following is required to be provided to European Union (“EU”) users: The legal basis for use of such personal data is to perform our obligations in accordance with any contract we may have with you, to provide you with the functionality you requested, or to deliver marketing information as consented to by you.

  3. Server logs and usage data

    We use this data for the purpose of understanding how people use our application or website and diagnose problems with it. Examples of how we use this data include identifying server loads, troubleshooting fault conditions, analytics for making informed business decisions, and finding ways to optimize the tool.     The following is required to be provided to European Union (“EU”) users: The legal basis for use of such personal data is to perform our obligations in accordance with any contract that we may have with you, in this case to troubleshoot any issues that arise, and to optimize the tool.

  4. Getting help from us

    In the event you decide to contact us for assistance, we will collect data that you decide to provide to us. We may collect your name, email address, phone number and the content of any discussion, email, or chats. You may request assistance from us by sending additional information or files to assist in troubleshooting. For select technical issues, we may share your data with third-party contractors.

    The following is required to be provided to European Union (“EU”) users: The legal basis for use of such personal data is to perform our obligations in accordance with any contract we may have with you, in this case to respond to your request for assistance.

We obtain this personal information in the following ways: 

Directly. For example: when you enter information into your profile, when you enter information in myProjects or myOrders, when provide information during interactions with a Lutron employee who is assisting you. 

Indirectly and from third parties. For example: interactions with a Lutron contracted sales representative agency. 

From activity on our website. For example: 

  • Using a webpage interface to provide your contact information and to request information about our products and services, enrolling in email marketing, initiating a “chat” on the website, or assembling information about traffic on our websites. 

  • “Cookies” information. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user's web browser when accessing a website. Cookies are part of the flow of information between hardware devices and web browsers, and can be used for, among other things, customizing user interaction with web sites and enhancing web site performance and utility. 

Cookies may be used for many different purposes, including: 

  1. Required (Strictly Necessary) Cookies: These cookies are required to make the websites function properly and give you access across Lutron sites. 

  1. Analytics (Performance) Cookies: These cookies are used to analyze how the Lutron website is used, to count the number of visitors, and to identify improvement opportunities. Website usage statistics and other reports are not linked to an individual. 

  1. Functional Cookies: These cookies allow the website to remember the choices you make such as your username, language, or the region you are in, and provide enhanced, more personal features. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or speaking with a customer service representative via chat. 

  2. Targeting Cookies: These cookies may be placed by websites other than Lutron, such as by advertising companies we are working with. They may be used by those companies to help provide more relevant advertising and are subject to the respective policies for the aligned external services. Lutron may share your information for the purpose of targeted advertising.  

Depending on the cookies in use, we may collect personal information about your device, browsing actions and patterns. Similar to cookies, we may also collect personal information by using, pixels, beacons, log files, and other similar technologies in order to compile information about your web site usage and your interaction with email received from Lutron. 

If you choose not to accept certain cookies from Lutron’s web sites, it may affect the website performance, including your ability to access certain features. 

Many internet browsers have settings to enable global privacy controls (GPCs) or have a feature called “do not track” (or similar) option available in the browser’s settings. These features let you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked.  

Please be aware that myLutron websites are not currently able to respond to these settings, however you may manually modify your settings at any time. 

With Whom May We Share Your Personal Data?

We take your privacy seriously and will not share your personal data with others, except in the following circumstances:

  1. Third-Party Sales Representatives & Employees Linked to the Lutron Customer Account. We may share this data with Lutron’s third-party sales representatives and with employees of the company associated with the Lutron customer account number linked to your myLutron account. This data is hosted on an external database that our sales team and third-party sales representatives have access to.

  2. Service providers. We may disclose your personal data to third-party service providers who enable us to fulfill your requests, or who provide website hosting and professional services, including information technology services, regulatory services, and legal services.

  3. Our other group entities. We may disclose your personal data to our other Lutron group companies to provide you with tailored services and communications, or in accordance with our business administrative practices.

  4. Targeted Advertising and Website Usage. Lutron does not, and will not, sell your information in a traditional sense. i.e., for money. However, some laws define “sell” very broadly to include activities like sharing your information to perform certain types of analytics or to provide a more targeted and personal ad experience. Lutron may share your information for the purpose of targeted advertising

  5. Legal reasons. We may use or disclose your personal data as we deem necessary or appropriate under applicable laws; to respond to requests from governmental and regulatory authorities; to comply with court orders, litigation procedures, and other legal processes; to obtain legal remedies or limit our damages; to protect the operations of Lutron group entities; and to protect the rights, safety, or property of our employees, you, or others.

For security reasons, we will need to verify that the person initiating a data request is authorized. As you must have an account for this App to function, upon our receipt of a data request we will advise you to send certain information from within the App while you are logged in to your account. We must receive the requested information within the provided time period for us to initiate your data request. Should you use an authorized agent to initiate a data request on your behalf, you will need to coordinate the sending of the required account verification information to us with your authorized agent. 

You will not receive a differing level of service if you initiate a data request; initiating a request will not impact the operation of Lutron products you may be using. 

We are required to advise residents of California that they may request the following: 

  • A copy of your personal information collected by Lutron 

  • deletion of your personal information; 

  • opt-out of the sale of personal information; 

  • correction of inaccurate personal information; and 

  • limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.

The following is required to be provided to EU users regarding Data access and rights

You have the following rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you:

  1. Your right of access. If you ask us, we will confirm whether we are processing your personal information and, if so, provide you with a copy of that personal information (along with certain other details).

  2. Your right to rectification. If the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you are entitled to have it rectified. If we have shared your personal information with others, we will let them know about the rectification where possible. If you ask us, where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you who we have shared your personal information with so that you can contact them directly.

  3. Your right to erasure. You can ask us to delete or remove your personal information in some circumstances such as where we no longer need it or if you withdraw your consent (where applicable). If we have shared your personal information with others, we will let them know about the erasure where possible. If you ask us, where it is possible and lawful for us to do so, we will also tell you with whom we have shared your personal information so you can contact them directly. Upon deleting your personal information, backups of personal information may linger for a bit with us before they are deleted. However, any and all data (project information, order information, etc.) that you provided on behalf of your employer, and the records of your activities performed on behalf of your employer (such as creating a Lutron quote for your company) will remain attached to your myLutron account. Also, if we are required to do so for legal reasons, we may need to retain certain data.

  4. Your right to restrict processing. You can ask us to ‘block’ or suppress the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances such as where you contest the accuracy of that personal information or you object to us processing it. It will not stop us from storing your personal information. We will tell you before we lift any restriction. If we have shared your personal information with others, we will let them know about the restriction where it is possible for us to do so. If you ask us, where it is possible and lawful for us to do so, we will also tell you with whom we have shared your personal information with so you can contact them directly.

  5. Your right to data portability. You have the right, in certain circumstances, to obtain personal information you’ve provided to us (in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format) and to reuse it elsewhere, or to ask us to transfer this to a third party of your choice. We will provide the information to you via email in a common industry format upon your request.

  6. Your right to object. You can ask us to stop processing your personal information, and we will do so if we are:

    1. Relying on our own or someone else’s legitimate interests to process your personal information, except if we can demonstrate compelling legal grounds for the processing; or
    2. Processing your personal information for direct marketing.

  7. Your rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling. You have the right not to be subject to a decision when it is based on automatic processing, including profiling, if it produces a legal effect or similarly significantly affects you, unless such profiling is necessary for entering into, or the performance of, a contract between you and us.

  8. Your right to withdraw consent. If we rely on your consent (or explicit consent) as our legal basis for processing your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

  9. Your right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. If you have a concern about any aspect of our privacy practices, including the way we have handled your personal information, EU users can report it to the data protection authority within your country.

International transfers of personal data

Some of our group entities and service providers are in the United States or India. We may share information with such parties, and with a contractor located in India, for select technical issues.

The following is required to be provided to EU users: When we transfer personal data from the EU to the United States and India, we use contractual clauses process approved by the European Commission. Such a transfer may also be necessary in order to perform a contract with you/fulfil your request and/or through obtaining your explicit consent.

How long do we keep your personal data & how do we protect it?

Lutron takes security very seriously and we follow industry best practices around securing data, monitoring for potential abuse, and updating systems. We collect only the personal data we need to fulfill the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy, and we will not retain personal data for longer than necessary. 

The categories of personal data we collect are: personal identifiers, internet activity, commercial information, and professional or employment related information; we will generally retain personal data collected from you via this website for less than three years. Upon “opting out” of email marketing, we may continue to retain your information for other service and support reasons such as: password reset, technical updates, warranty requests. However, if we believe we need to retain personal data to respond to a legal inquiry, we may retain the data for a longer period. 

We retain your login details to provide access to the functionality and/or services to which you or your firm have requested. We will retain your myLutron login and associated data: 

  1. Until you or your employer requests your login to be deactivated; or 

  1. For three (3) full years of inactivity; or 

  1. Upon termination or non-renewal of a pre-existing business contract. 

 

Personal data from minors 

This website is directed solely at adults. If you are under the age of sixteen (or, if being a 'minor' is defined as a younger age in your relevant jurisdiction, that relevant age), please do not provide us with any of your personal data, including your email address.
